Skutt Catholic waltzed into their matchup on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Gretna Dragons. That's more bragging rights for the SkyHawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Skutt Catholic got a great performance from Easton Elam as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Elam a new career-low in hits (zero).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Van Dyke, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Joe Kolega, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Skutt Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gretna struck out 11 times.

Skutt Catholic's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gretna, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
