The El Segundo Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. El Segundo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
El Segundo took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Palos Verdes, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. El Segundo's pitcher stepped up to hand Palos Verdes a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since February 19th.

The result came thanks to Jacy Lindsay's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, El Segundo's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jazlene Ramos, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ramos also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Long Beach Poly beat North 5-1 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jackrabbits.
Isabella Cisneros spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Janelle Morris was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Bailey Holder, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
El Segundo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Long Beach Poly now has a winning record of 2-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. El Segundo hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.3 home runs per game. However, it's not like Long Beach Poly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went El Segundo's way against Long Beach Poly when the teams last played back in March of 2019, as El Segundo made off with an 11-2 victory. Does El Segundo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Long Beach Poly turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
