Basketball Game Preview: Richfield Wildcats vs. Canyon View Falcons

Richfield is 9-1 against Canyon View since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Richfield Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Canyon View Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Richfield strolled past Delta with points to spare, taking the game 47-33. The Wildcats pushed the score to 42-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rabbits cut but never quite recovered from.

It was another big night for Abbee Albrecht, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Jordyn Bagley was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Canyon View came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 62-43 victory over the Dinos. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Dinos are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Canyon View has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Richfield, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Everything went Richfield's way against Canyon View in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Richfield made off with a 44-23 victory. Will Richfield repeat their success, or does Canyon View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
