Baseball Recap: Pioneer Valley Comes Up Short

Pioneer Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 7-2 to the St. Francis Sharks. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sharks from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Pioneer Valley got a good showing from Ruben Ramirez, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Ramirez gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Pioneer Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eddie Ponce, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Mike Rosas was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Pioneer Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for St. Francis, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Pioneer Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-7 win against Cabrillo on the 25th. As for St. Francis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-7 defeat against Bishop Montgomery on the 25th.
