Football Game Preview: Waskom Wildcats vs. Big Sandy Wildcats

After each having a week off, Waskom and Big Sandy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Waskom's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Big Sandy has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

It was a proper cat-fight when Waskom faced off against Beckville last Friday. The Wildcats took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bearcats. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bearcats 14-10 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Big Sandy fell victim to Elysian Fields and their airtight defense last Friday. They were outmatched by the Yellowjackets and fell 32-0.

Waskom's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Big Sandy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Waskom against Big Sandy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-16 victory. Does Waskom have another victory up their sleeve, or will Big Sandy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
