Basketball Recap: Berne Union Comes Up Short

Berne Union lost against Fisher Catholic back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Berne Union Rockets were dealt a 53-10 defeat at the hands of the Fisher Catholic Irish. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 721st, while the Irish are ranked 269th).

Fisher Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hadli Gillum, who went 9 of 16 en route to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Gillum is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Sydney Snoke was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 10 points along with eight steals and six boards.

Berne Union dropped their record down to 5-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Fisher Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Berne Union will venture away from home to take on Fairfield Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so Berne Union's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Fisher Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Millersport at 7:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Gillum and Lilly Atkinson.
