Softball Game Preview: Avon Braves vs. Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars

The Avon Braves will head out to face off against the Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Avon earned a 7-3 win over Warsaw. The victory continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Jessie Crye was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Crye was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyleigh DeRider, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Rylie Miller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Honeoye Falls-Lima made sure to put some runs up on the board against Brockport on Monday. The Cougars never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Considering the Cougars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Honeoye Falls-Lima's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Avon, their record now sits at 2-0.
