The biggest upset of the week belonged to LaGrange, who took down 88th ranked LaGrange, 38-35.
Sandy Creek extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region 5 this week by beating Alexander, 42-6. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Patriots.
Cole Garvin put up the best numbers through the air as Sandy Creek defeated the Cougars. He finished with a total of eight completions for 103 yards and one touchdown. Garvin's favorite target this week was Zerric Willis, who caught one pass for 46 yards.
Tre' Heard was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 73 yards on seven carries as Carrollton topped Shaw. Teammate Jarvis Terrell added to the ground attack by rushing for 58 yards.
Chivers was the best wideout in the league this week as the Trojans beat the Raiders. Chivers tallied one reception for 49 yards.
Chip Walker's team's Garvin and Demarre Kitt have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AAAA Region 5 in both passing and receiving yards. Garvin has thrown for 1345 yards this season, while Kitt, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 29 catches for 483 yards. Carrollton's Chivers leads the league in rushing yards with 641.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Grangers take on the Patriots. As it stands, LaGrange is in third, while Sandy Creek is in first.
Fayette County moved up to 260 from 290 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make move up by besting the Grangers 38-35.
