Football Recap: Holy Name Takes a Loss

Saturday just wasn't the day for Holy Name's offense. They took a blow against the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals on Saturday, falling 35-0. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Royals are ranked 24th).

Charley Levak was his usual excellent self, rushing for 27 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 52 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.

This is the second loss in a row for Holy Name and nudges their season record down to 4-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-1 Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 91.7% over those games). As for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Holy Name will square off against rival Elyria Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
