Baseball Game Preview: Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats vs. Shenandoah Raiders

The Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats will square off against the Shenandoah Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Evansville Mater Dei is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Barr-Reeve 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on four straight.

Meanwhile, Shenandoah had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 4-2.

Collin Osenbaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Drew Fredenburg was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Coffey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Shenandoah's win bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Evansville Mater Dei, their victory bumped their record up to 21-7.
