Softball Recap: Nelson County Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Nelson County got themselves on the board against DuPont Manual on Monday, but DuPont Manual never followed suit. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Crimsons 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since March 18th.

The result came thanks to Aubrey Robbins's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nelson County's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nora Kate Simpson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Nelson County's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for DuPont Manual, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
