Basketball Recap: Central Cabarrus' Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games + How To Watch

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Central Cabarrus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-61 win over the Olympic Trojans. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Leading Central Cabarrus to victory were Parker Watkins and Duron Vaughn. Watkins shot 41% from the field to rack up 25 points and eight boards, while Vaughn dropped a double-double with 17 points and 18 rebounds. With that strong performance, Vaughn is now averaging an impressive 8.8 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Watkins, who posted four points.

Central Cabarrus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Central Cabarrus' record is now 2-6. As for Olympic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Central Cabarrus will be taking part in a tournament against Carolina International at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings will be up against the Comets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 68.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
