Basketball Recap: Joey Richardson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Owen Valley over North Putnam

Owen Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Putnam Cougars. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 57-52.

Owen Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Richardson, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Richardson a new career-high in points. Donavin Newby was another key player, putting up ten points.

Owen Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for North Putnam, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-13.

Owen Valley will challenge Sullivan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Sullivan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for North Putnam, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-44 defeat against Cascade on the 1st.
