Volleyball Game Preview: Pueblo East Eagles vs. Walsenburg Panthers

The Pueblo East Eagles will take on the Walsenburg Panthers in a tournament on Saturday. Walsenburg took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pueblo East, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Pueblo East made easy work of Pueblo South and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Pueblo East took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-6, 25-14.

Pueblo East relied on the efforts of Myah Abeyta, who had 11 digs and two aces, and Ashlynn Koch, who hit 70% for 15 kills and seven aces and one block. That's the most kills Koch has posted over her last ten contests.

They weren't the only good servers: Pueblo East was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. They are 12-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Walsenburg lost 3-0 to Primero on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-10, 25-8.

Pueblo East's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Walsenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
