It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lyford had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Goliad Tigers and snuck past 6-5. The win was familiar territory for Lyford who now have three in a row.
Aiden Olivas-Romo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Olivas-Romo was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaias Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with a home run, a stolen base, and two RBI.
Lyford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for Goliad, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-6.
