Softball Recap: Nolan Catholic Comes Up Short

Nolan Catholic lost against Grapevine Faith Christian on February 3rd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Nolan Catholic Vikings lost 19-6 to the Grapevine Faith Christian Lions. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nolan Catholic saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Laux, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That run was Laux's first of the season. Another was Jaden Padilla, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Nolan Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Nolan Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-7-1. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, the win was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 2-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nolan Catholic will challenge Mercy Culture Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Nolan Catholic will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. Grapevine Faith Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Midland Christian at 5:00 p.m. on March 28th.
