Basketball Recap: Casey-Westfield's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Casey-Westfield needed a changed in momentum after dropping nine straight games and they got it from Lucy Moore. The Casey-Westfield Warriors walked away with a 46-39 win over the Lawrenceville Indians on Thursday thanks in part to Moore, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Casey-Westfield's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Taylor, who posted seven points and eight boards. Those eight rebounds gave her a new career-high.

Loss or not, Lawrenceville got some senior leadership from Mallory Lockhart and Gracie Hughes. Lockhart earned 13 points and six steals, while Hughes had ten points and eight boards. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Lockhart. Another player making a difference was Keely Breen, who put up three points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks.

Casey-Westfield's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 10-18. As for Lawrenceville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Casey-Westfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-24 loss against Paris on the 5th. As for Lawrenceville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-23 defeat against Robinson on the 31st.
