Basketball Recap: Deacon Courtney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Millard North over Papillion-Lavista South

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Millard North can now relate to. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Papillion-LaVista South Titans. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost three in a row.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deacon Courtney, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 16 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Courtney a new career-high in points. Amari Rahaman was another key player, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 11 points and three steals.

Bryson Bahl was his usual excellent self, going 11-for-19 en route to 33 points and eight rebounds for Papillion-LaVista South. The game was Bahl's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Levi Webb, who posted ten points and five boards.

Millard North's defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.

Millard North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-58 victory against Omaha Westside on the 15th.
