Baseball Recap: Eunice Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Eunice waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Jal Panthers with a sharp 17-1 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 10-2 victory on Saturday.

Jose Calvillo and Tyson Coy did most of the damage at the plate: Calvillo got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Coy went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave Coy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Morales, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs.

Eunice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Eunice pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jal, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Eunice didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-4 win against Texico on the 22nd. As for Jal, they have also already played their next matchup, an 18-12 loss against Loving on the 22nd.
