Basketball Recap: Pendleton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Stephens County on Wednesday, Pendleton came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell 55-49 to the Madison County Red Raiders on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Red Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Pendleton lost, don't look at Samuel Ross. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-17 en route to 18 points and six steals. Ross is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Michael Barnett was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Pendleton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Madison County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Pendleton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-38 loss against Jasper County on the 20th. As for Madison County, they have also already played their next contest, a 53-39 defeat against Loganville on the 20th.
