Softball Recap: Eisenhower Cadets vs. Wenatchee Panthers
Eisenhower had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-15 to make it five. They fell just short of the Wenatchee Panthers by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 19-6 defeat back in April.
Zabella Hickenbottom made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Pepper Gilman, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Wenatchee, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 15th.
On Wenatchee's side, Adamarie Iniguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. Iniguez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lily Smith was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Cook, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As of now, neither Eisenhower nor Wenatchee have any future games scheduled.
