Baseball Recap: Rye Neck Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rye, Rye Neck was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Port Chester Rams. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2021.

Davey Ryan was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 7.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Rye Neck's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Ryan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Rye Neck let Ian Hofmann and Peter Apoldo run wild. Hofmann scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Apoldo went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That's the most runs Apoldo has posted since back in May of 2024.

Rye Neck's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Port Chester, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Rye Neck will be playing at home against Sleepy Hollow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Port Chester, they will venture away from home to challenge Mount Vernon at 2:45 p.m. on Monday.
