Baseball Recap: Shadow Ridge Drops Season-High Score on Southridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shadow Ridge). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Southridge Skyhawks a 17-0 shutout on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Stallions, who have now won three contests in a row.

Nathan Paxman looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nathaniel Pearson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Shadow Ridge is undefeated when Pearson posts two or more runs, but 2-7-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Colton Planeta, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Shadow Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Shadow Ridge pushed their record up to 5-7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Southridge, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
