Basketball Recap: Franklin Pierce Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Franklin Pierce Cardinals took a blow against the Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes, falling 66-26. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 47th).

Franklin Pierce's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Mount Vernon Christian, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Pierce will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Steilacoom at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Mount Vernon Christian will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Darrington at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
