Basketball Game Preview: Arlington Eagles vs. Pierce Bluejays

Arlington is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Pierce is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles duke it out with the Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arlington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Arlington didn't have too much trouble with Wayne as they won 53-39. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Arlington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Britt Nielsen, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. Nielsen's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Emerson Timm, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pierce). They put the hurt on O'Neill with a sharp 59-39 win on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bluejays have posted since January 14th.

Pierce has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.1 points over those games. As for Arlington, their win bumped their record up to 19-4.
