Volleyball Recap: Mountain Vista Golden Eagles vs. Grandview Wolves
Mountain Vista unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Grandview Wolves by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
Mountain Vista actually scored more points across those five sets (102-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-23, 19-25, 12-25, 25-19, 15-10.
Mountain Vista's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brie Bowyer, who had 17 assists and 14 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Pasada, who had 17 digs.
Leading Grandview to victory were Ruby Igel and Amelie Pigeaire. Igel had ten digs and two assists, while Pigeaire had 16 kills and two aces. Those 16 kills gave Pigeaire a new career-high.
Mountain Vista has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Lewis-Palmer on the 26th. As for Grandview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Chaparral on the 26th.
