Softball Recap: Polytechnic Has No Trouble Against Westridge

Polytechnic was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Westridge on Friday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 16-4 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Amelia Shih made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Eila Chan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two triples. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Carthan Connolly, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Polytechnic now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Westridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

Polytechnic will head out on the road to face off against Chadwick at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Dolphins at the right time seeing as the Dolphins are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Westridge, they will take on Providence at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
