Baseball Recap: Jones Comes Up Short

Jones was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-8 to the Crooms Academy Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fightin' Tigers of the 18-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Kenovin Saintfleur was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off six hits. Saintfleur was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jerome Williams III made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

Jones' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

While they had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
