Baseball Recap: Loretto's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Loretto). They put the hurt on the Battle Creek Grizzlies with a sharp 9-1 win on Monday. The Mustangs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 15, 2024.

Grayson Burleson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Burleson was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Loretto let Grant Fisher and Casen Springer run wild. Fisher scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Springer scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Fisher a new career-high.

Loretto's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10. As for Battle Creek, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Loretto beat the Grizzlies by a score of 10-0 on Tuesday.
