Basketball Preview: Plattsmouth Blue Devils vs. Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays
Plattsmouth hasn't had much luck against Ashland-Greenwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Plattsmouth Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. Plattsmouth knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Ashland-Greenwood likes a good challenge.
Plattsmouth will head into Saturday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 41-point drubbing they dealt Auburn on Saturday. Plattsmouth breezed by Auburn to the tune of 71-30. With that victory, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 53.8 points per game.

Averi Winters had an outrageously good game as she went 9 for 17 on her way to 23 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Those 23 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila Wehrbein, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points and three steals.
Plattsmouth was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ashland-Greenwood played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Mercy 54-27. The Bluejays were down 38-17 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Ashland-Greenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Plattsmouth, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Plattsmouth came up short against Ashland-Greenwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 42-35. Can Plattsmouth avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
