Softball Recap: Summerfield Takes a Loss

After flying high against Homer last Tuesday, Summerfield came back down to earth. The Summerfield Rebels lost 21-5 to the Beekman Charter Tigers on Thursday. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 18-6.

Akeirah Jones made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Ella Adkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Summerfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Summerfield moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 16 runs. As for Beekman Charter, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9.

Coming up, Summerfield will welcome Lincoln Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Beekman Charter, they will take on Mangham at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
