Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Heritage Academy

Heritage Academy waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the New Way Learning Academy Bulldogs by a score of 8-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-0 back in March.

Haven Anderson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Anderson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Carson Grover was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of David Mota, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Heritage Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Heritage Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for New Way Learning Academy, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Academy will square off against Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Heroes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for New Way Learning Academy, they will challenge Ajo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
