Preview: Mount St. Charles Academy Mounties vs. Woonsocket Villa Novans
Mount St. Charles Academy is 7-2 against Woonsocket since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Mount St. Charles Academy Mounties will head out on the road to face off against the Woonsocket Villa Novans at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Mount St. Charles Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Mount St. Charles Academy was able to grind out a solid win over East Greenwich, taking the game 45-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mount St. Charles Academy.
Mount St. Charles Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addie Stojanowski, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Stojanowski continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Dziun, who scored five points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, sadly, Woonsocket is still looking for their first win of the season after 19 matches. They were dealt a 55-26 loss at the hands of Cumberland on Tuesday. Woonsocket was down 41-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Mount St. Charles Academy pushed their record up to 16-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Woonsocket, their loss dropped their record down to 0-19.
Everything came up roses for Mount St. Charles Academy against Woonsocket in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 71-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount St. Charles Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
