Baseball Recap: Franklin Parish Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Franklin Parish's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Grant Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Patriots have posted against the Cougars since March 9, 2018.

Caden Gallagher made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gallagher was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luke Nichols was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Cooper, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Franklin Parish always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Franklin Parish is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Grant, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

Looking ahead, Franklin Parish will head out to challenge Claiborne Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Grant, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grace Christian at 5:00 p.m. on the 14th.
