Volleyball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. South East Jaguars

The Roosevelt Rough Riders are taking a road trip to face off against the South East Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Roosevelt will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Roosevelt can't be too worried about heading out to take on South East: they just beat South Gate at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Rough Riders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rams on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2.

Roosevelt took South Gate into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-21, 25-10, 15-25, 15-8.

Roosevelt's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kaley Munoz, who had 24 digs and three aces, and Natalie Vasquez, who had 34 digs and three aces. Those 24 digs gave Munoz a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Roosevelt was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, South East was able to grind out a solid win over Garfield on Monday, taking the game 3-1.

Roosevelt's record now sits at 19-8. As for South East, their record is now 5-11.

Everything went Roosevelt's way against South East when the teams last played back in September, as Roosevelt made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rough Riders since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
