The Mariposa County Grizzlies will venture away from home to challenge the Waterford Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Mariposa County 14.8, Waterford 14.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
Mariposa County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Stone Ridge Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Knights by a score of 14-11 on Friday. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Mariposa County might have lost, but man, Rusty Bull was a machine: he rushed for 164 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries. With that strong performance, Bull is now averaging an impressive 101 rushing yards per game.
Mariposa County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Laten Butler, Bull, and Lyell Marcis picked up one apiece. Connor Filgas was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waterford). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Delhi 38-6. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by 25 points or more so far this season.
One reason for the win was Waterford's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Albino Ortiz refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
The win made it two in a row for Waterford and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 12 points in those games. As for Mariposa County, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Mariposa County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 229.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Waterford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 205.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Mariposa County strolled past Waterford in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 35-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
