Baseball Recap: Westfield Has No Trouble Against Columbus North

Westfield came out on top against Columbus North on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Shamrocks blew past the Bull Dogs 11-0. The Shamrocks not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 21-0).

Sam Flickinger tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Ian Wilson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Drew Law was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Westfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus North only posted an OBP of .062.

The win made it two in a row for Westfield and bumps their season record up to 14-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Columbus North, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Westfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Hamilton Southeastern on the 15th. As for Columbus North, they have also already played their next game, a 4-1 defeat against Bloomington South on the 14th.
