Basketball Preview: Kingsford Flivvers vs. Escanaba Eskymos

Kingsford is 2-8 against the Eskymos since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Kingsford Flivvers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Escanaba Eskymos at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Kingsford didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Trojans, but they still walked away with a 51-47 victory. Given Kingsford's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Trojans are ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Escanaba was handed a three-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Modeltowners on Monday. Escanaba took their match at home with ease, bagging a 64-31 victory over the Modeltowners. Escanaba pushed the score to 45-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Modeltowners had little chance of recovering from.

Keira Maki was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Escanaba's points. Ashley Foust was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Kingsford pushed their record up to 7-8 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Escanaba, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season.

Kingsford ended up a good deal behind the Eskymos when the teams last played back in January, losing 62-47. Will Kingsford have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
