Preview: Birdville Hawks vs. Grapevine Mustangs
Birdville is 2-8 against Grapevine since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Birdville Hawks will be home for the holidays to greet the Grapevine Mustangs at 5:45 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Birdville suffered a tough 60-37 defeat at the hands of Ryan. Birdville has not had much luck with Ryan recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Grapevine unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colleyville Heritage. While losing is never fun, Grapevine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Colleyville Heritage is ranked 104th).
Birdville has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Grapevine, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Birdville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Grapevine in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 32-28 victory. Does Birdville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grapevine turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
