Softball Recap: Trinity Takes a Loss

Trinity extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-4. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in March.

As for Thomas Jefferson, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

For Thomas Jefferson's part, Aubrey Shaffer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Zoie DeCostro was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylee Nemchek, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Coincidentally, Trinity and Thomas Jefferson will both be playing Peters Township the next time they take the field. The Hillers will head out to face the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Jaguars will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
