Softball Recap: Carter Green Hornets vs. Seymour Eagles

Carter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Seymour Eagles. The Green Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Maggie Messer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marah Yeo, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Even though they lost, Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Carter's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Seymour, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carter will head out to challenge Jefferson County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Seymour, they will venture away from home to take on Bearden at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
