Softball Recap: Summers County Bobcats vs. Midland Trail Patriots

Summers County had lost 18 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-16 to make it 19. They came up short against the Midland Trail Patriots, falling 20-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 0-0 two weeks ago.

As for Midland Trail, they moved to 12-14 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 21-0).

For Midland Trail's part, Madison Rader was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Rader has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Hall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jaci Stonestreet was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Summers County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Midland Trail, they have already played their next matchup, a 7-2 defeat against James Monroe on the 8th.
