Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Starts Season with Win Against Richlands

Jacksonville took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Richlands Wildcats by a score of 51-44. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Jacksonville found their leader in sophomore Kole Stahlecker, who went 6-for-10 en route to 14 points and five rebounds. Matt Williams was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Jacksonville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Richlands is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will take on North Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will be up against the Scorpions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Richlands, they will be playing at home against West Carteret at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 69.1 points per game this season.
