Recap: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Monroe Central Golden Bears
The Sheridan Blackhawks entered their tilt with the Monroe Central Golden Bears with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Sheridan secured a 27-22 W over Monroe Central on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Sheridan, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Sheridan was led to victory by Zach Bales and Eli Kolb. Bales rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown, while Kolb rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Bales is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last four games he's played.
Carter Duncan and Jerimiah Ullom certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Duncan rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while Ullom gained 114 total yards and two touchdowns. Ullom's longest rush was for an incredible 83 yards.
Sheridan's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Monroe Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.
Sheridan will take on North Decatur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Decatur knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Sheridan likes a good challenge. Monroe Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
