While Clairemont's win against Mira Mesa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chieftains narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Marauders 4-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chieftains also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Gigi Villalpando spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Camryn Walton was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Claire Brancheau was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Clairemont has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mira Mesa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Clairemont wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-2 victory against Hilltop on the 16th. As for Mira Mesa, they have also already played their next game, a 5-1 win against University City on the 17th.
