Football Recap: Greenwich Extends Winning Streak to Three

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Greenwich had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They beat the West Haven Blue Devils by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-0. The win was familiar territory for the Cardinals who have now won three matches in a row.

It was another big night for Michael D'Angelo, who rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 58 yards.

D'Angelo was just one part of a punishing run game: Greenwich was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Greenwich pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.0 points per game. As for West Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

As of now, neither Greenwich nor West Haven have any future games scheduled.
