The Denver Waldorf Spartans will square off against the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Denver Waldorf and four for Rocky Mountain Lutheran.
Denver Waldorf is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Arickaree on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Denver Waldorf had to suffer through a 56-21 loss at the hands of Arickaree. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-7.

The losing side was boosted by Annie O'Meara, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Those eight boards gave her a new career-high. Havi Flores also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain Lutheran came up short against Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory on Tuesday and fell 28-18. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 7-2 in the first quarter.
Denver Waldorf will need focus on slowing down Katy Shade, one of several Rocky Mountain Lutheran players who made an impact when they last played. She earned six points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Schlittenhart, who put up a point in addition to five boards and five steals.
Even though they lost, Rocky Mountain Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Denver Waldorf now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Denver Waldorf has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rocky Mountain Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Denver Waldorf was dealt a bruising 48-19 loss at the hands of Rocky Mountain Lutheran in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Denver Waldorf was down 30-10.
