Softball Recap: St. Francis Victorious

The third road contest was the charm for St. Francis, as they earned their first away win of the season. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Chisago Lakes Area Wildcats on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Saints, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sydney Borchert made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

Borchert wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Borchert, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Abby Keding also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

St. Francis now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Chisago Lakes Area, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

St. Francis wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against Monticello on the 28th. As for Chisago Lakes Area, they will take on Becker at 5:00 p.m. on the 30th. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
