Baseball Recap: Arlington Eagles vs. Fort Calhoun Pioneers
Arlington had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it five. They lost 11-0 to the Fort Calhoun Pioneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 3rd.
Arlington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Kyllo, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for Fort Calhoun, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.
On Fort Calhoun's side, not much got past Kenny Wellwood, who gave up just four hits to keep Arlington off the board. Wellwood has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Bierman, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Chase Premer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
