Softball Recap: Tunkhannock Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

While Tunkhannock put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Wyoming Valley West. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Tigers have won 13 matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

McKenzie Hannon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MaKenzie Bevan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addisyn Waterman, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Tunkhannock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyoming Valley West only posted an OBP of .286.

Tunkhannock pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Wyoming Valley West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Tunkhannock will venture away from home to square off against Horseheads at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wyoming Valley West, they will head out to take on Wilkes-Barre at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
